Hello, my name is Jasmin Le and I work as an Associate Solicitor within the Commercial Property team at Howes Percival.

When it comes to my day to day at work, I mainly act for landlords and tenants dealing with their commercial properties. For example, if they were to sell or lease their commercial buildings.

I’ve relocated quite a few times for different jobs and was based in Colchester before I came to Norwich. People always say it was random for me to move to Norwich but I actually grew up in Suffolk which isn’t too far. When I was younger I would always come to Norwich with my friends and family to go shopping, or to enjoy the nightlife.

In a way, it feels like I grew up here!

As I explain in this blog, I find Norwich to be a very peaceful place to live. It’s no surprise that it tops the list of‘most peaceful’ places in the whole of the UK.

Norwich’s unique blend of history, nature, and a focus on wellbeing creates a tranquil atmosphere that makes it a joy to live here. Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, it’s a place that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly appreciate life.

The perfect concoction…

I chose Norwich because I feel like I’m someone who loves the countryside for its more scenic areas, but I also enjoy the busy city life. To me, Norwich is the perfect concoction of both because you can take lovely walks around the wilderness but also have the convenience of the dynamic town centre which has a lot of great shops, restaurants and cafes.

When you walk through the city it almost feels like you’re walking through Diagon Alley in Harry Potter! There is so much character with all the old buildings and paving. I must say it is especially pretty by the river! My partner took me there for a picnic over the summer and it was very peaceful.

A stress free zone

As someone who has suffered with kidney failure, it’s been really important for me to keep my stress levels low. What helps me most is exercising. During the summer time I spent endless evenings running around the most scenic routes and enjoying the fresh and peaceful environment.

I never had this where I previously lived and it really makes me appreciate the ‘zen’ atmosphere here. I’m also very much a reformer Pilates girl and I was so impressed at the number of different classes available!

Norwich is on the top of many lists for its wellness activities and ways to improve your wellbeing. Here are a few of the opportunities available!

Norwich offers unique legal challenges

As a lawyer, I’ve found that Norwich offers so much opportunity for dealing with niche areas of law such as agricultural land law.

With there being a lot of protected land too it means there are a lot of unique legal challenges. These are the kind of opportunities you don’t tend to get just anywhere.

During my job search, I came across many excellent law firms in Norwich, but my focus was on finding the one that was the best fit for me.

I cannot speak highly enough about the ENDLESS opportunities for career growth in Norwich. Coming from a primarily residential property background, I’ve been with Howes Percival for just over six months, and the amount I’ve learned here is incredible. The working environment is genuinely supportive and transparent, and while many firms make similar claims, they truly deliver on it here. I can honestly say I’ve never worked at a better firm.

Not only do I feel like I’ve grown massively within the office environment, but I also feel like the firm provide so many out of office opportunities with networking events where you can meet clients, peers and other professionals.

“It really makes you feel like you’re part of the community”

What advice would you give someone looking to move to Norwich?

I would say definitely visit the area if you haven’t been before just so you can experience it in person – it’s so vibrant and fun, and the pictures don’t do it justice!
